Simlog Announces World’s First Wheel Loader Personal Simulator
New PC-based simulation software brings unprecedented cost-effective help to operator training
Montreal, August 11, 2008 – Simlog Inc., the pioneer and leader in the development of Personal Simulators for cost-effective heavy equipment operator training, is proud to announce the availability of the world’s first PC-based Wheel Loader Personal Simulator for the construction, quarrying, and mining industries.
Developed in collaboration with leading OEMs and training professionals, Simlog’s new Wheel Loader Personal Simulator puts trainees at the controls of a modern wheel loader in English, French, and Spanish. The simulator-based training emphasizes best practices for skills development for new operators, and skills assessment along with refresher training for veteran operators.
“Simlog’s new Wheel Loader Personal Simulator follows the success of our Off-Highway Truck Personal Simulator to provide expanded training help that responds to the needs of training service providers and owner/operators all around the world,” says Paul Freedman, Simlog Founder and President. “Like all of our products, our new Wheel Loader Personal Simulator is based on Simlog’s proven instructional design to provide an autonomous training tool that knows how to teach, affordably and safely.“
The instructional design segments training into a series of Simulation Modules of increasing difficulty to train new operators in a step-by-step and carefully measured way. Another feature of the simulation software’s instructional design is automatic measurement of key performance indicators pertaining to the productivity and quality of the simulated work. This feature enables trainers to assess the operator potential of training candidates and the rate of skills development before new operators move on to train at the controls of real wheel loaders.
“As modern construction industry, quarrying, and mining equipment is increasingly complex, costly and difficult to operate, proper operator training has become indispensable to optimizing productivity, quality and safety of work,” says Rick Longstaff, President of VISTA Training. “Simlog’s Wheel Loader Personal Simulator can produce significant business benefits by reducing the number of hours equipment is removed from production, and by improving safety while minimizing accidents due to operator inexperience.”
The Wheel Loader Personal Simulator supports both steering wheel steering and stick steering, and three kinds of USB-ready operator controls are offered: PC Controls, consisting of low cost off-the-shelf input devices; Replica Controls, featuring USB-ready industrial components; OEM Controls, with parts from the operator controls of real wheel loaders.
Simlog is the world leader in providing affordable and effective PC-based simulation software for heavy equipment operator training in mining, construction, material handling and forestry. Called Personal Simulators, only Simlog’s products leverage the power of today’s PCs with the variety of USB-ready setup options needed to suit a range of training budgets. With hundreds of training service providers and equipment owner/operators around the world training thousands of people every year, Simlog products have been proven to reduce training costs, increase operator productivity, and help minimize the safety risks associated with operator inexperience.
