The Standard in Cost-Effective Simulation

Simlog's Instructional Design

All around the world, the very same kinds of heavy equipment are hard at work but the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) provide little, if any, training guidance, especially for entry level operators. That's why Simlog's Personal Simulators have become a global standard when it comes to cost-effective simulator-based training help, with customers all around the world.

The fact is, our products feature Instructional Designs developed in collaboration with OEMs, their dealers, and especially training professionals to ensure that

  • the right tasks are simulated
  • the simulated work is measured in the right way

And where possible, we also look to operator training standards.

For example, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed some crane operator competency guidelines that are popular in Europe. In the United States, the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) has developed a Practical Exam, and Simlog's simulation software was designed to reflect their standardized tasks.

For earth-moving equipment, some programs follow the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) but their guidelines are more descriptive than prescriptive. In other words, they present the various kinds of earth-moving equipment along with operating techniques, but they lack the detail of a "lesson plan". Here is where the "Instructor Kits" developed by Vista Training can help, and they too are used by many training organisations.

Indeed, the curriculum developed by HeviCert, based on the NCCER guidelines, includes Simlog simulator-based components and there are plans to make this curriculum an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard.

Here's the bottom line: since Simlog's founding in 1999, our products have helped train an estimated 100,000 heavy equipment operators all around the world. So using our Personal Simulators will help ensure the success of your operator training curriculum, and maximize your ROI.

And whether you plan to prepare your own benchmarks or take advantage of the benchmarks made available by our customers, choosing Simlog means

  • using best practices
  • training with confidence

That's why today Simlog is recognized as both the pioneer and the emerging standard in simulator-based training for heavy equipment operators in forestry, mining, and construction.
