For earth-moving equipment, some programs follow the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) but their guidelines are more descriptive than prescriptive. In other words, they present the various kinds of earth-moving equipment along with operating techniques, but they lack the detail of a "lesson plan". Indeed, the curriculum developed by the National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Schools (NAHETS), based on the NCCER guidelines, includes Simlog simulator-based components and will soon become an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard.
