Why Choose Simlog?
Simlog is pioneering a brand new kind of product called Personal
Simulator to provide cost-effective 3D simulation
to train heavy equipment operators in the
crane/construction,
forestry, and mining
industries.
And whether you're a
school/training service provider or
an owner/operator, they will help you:
-
Pre-screen trainees for operator aptitude.
Studies show that up to 30% of
trainees lack the pre-requisite abilities to become truly proficient
operators of modern heavy equipment.
-
Prepare your new operators for real
seat-time. Instructors will use your Personal Simulators for "teaching by
showing" and then students will use them for "learning by doing", all in a
way that's completely safe.
-
Promote what you do in your community by showcasing your Personal
Simulators at regional events, even
local schools and job fairs to support your recruitment efforts.
The fact is, Simlog's Personal Simulators differ from every other
simulator product on the market today in these five important
ways.
You turn your PC into a
professional training simulator.
Simlog continues to pioneer the use of
off-the-shelf PCs
that our customers purchase in their home countries
(and local currencies).
After that, just install the simulator "ingredients": Simlog software,
and simulator controls.
You can use different kinds of
simulator controls.
Simlog software may be used with many kinds of USB-ready simulator controls,
and mounting configurations (details on product pages):
-
Low cost off-the-shelf PC Controls are all
you need to begin. This option is the default choice, and provides
unprecedented cost-effectiveness.
-
For more realism at additional cost, we offer Replica controls
featuring USB-ready industrial components
suitable for table-top mounting.
-
Simlog's new Operator Chairs provide a superior simulation
experience.
There's a real operator seat, integrated consoles for the left and right
hands, industrial pedals, and a steel platform with casters for easy
portability.
-
Finally, we can also provide OEM Controls
with parts from the operator controls of real heavy equipment.
You choose the simulator configuration
that's right for you.
Decide for yourself what setup
options work best. Some customers are
using desktop computers with PC controls, while others have laptops with
projectors and "Replica controls". Some customers have created their own
operator chairs, even mobile training units.
So whether you're looking to prepare just one Simlog "station" or a
simulator lab to train many people at
the same time, Simlog has the right ingredients!
Your Simlog software "knows" how to
teach.
Simlog's Personal Simulators feature an innovative
Instructional Design developed
in collaboration with training professionals, leading OEMs, their
dealers, and owner/operators to ensure that the right tasks are simulated
and that for each one, the simulated work is measured in the right way.
For each Simulation Module, there are Performance Indicators that
carefully measure both the productivity (e.g. execution time) and the
quality of your simulated work (e.g. stump height, load sway, bucket
fill). In this way, the values of the performance indicators provide a
comprehensive picture of what it means to "do the job
right". Practically, there are hundreds of trials for each module, enough
for many hours of continuous simulator-based training right "out of the
box"!
Training is unsupervised,
so there's no need for a trainer's station.
Simlog's Personal Simulators need no trainer's station, because
simulation results are automatically saved.
In this way, students progress at their own pace while instructors
have more time to supervise real seat-time.
With results presented at the end of each simulation exercise, people can
easily track their progress with respect to your
simulator benchmarks.
This shifts responsibility for learning from the instructor to
the student, making people more accountable and training more effective.
Simulation results are saved in one of two ways:
-
In the default "Single-User" mode, the simulation results are saved as
files, one per simulator "session". The files are named according to the
date and time when the simulator-based work took place and include
average, minimum and maximum values of all the associated performance
indicators.
-
Alternatively, when the Personal Simulator is used in "Multi-User" mode
in conjunction with Simlog's Simulation
Manager, the simulation results are saved in a special Simlog
database, indexed by simulator user. (The same database can be used with
all of our products.)
In all cases, we make it easy to
keep track
of the simulation results, and we can even help you develop your own
simulator-based
benchmarks!
The fact is, Simlog's new Personal Simulators are easy to set up, easy to
use, easy to transport, and easy to look after. That's real value for money.
