As before, just set up the simulator controls for your hands and feet (see
below for details), install the simulation software in
English, French, or
Spanish on your
desktop or laptop PC, and begin!
Add a projector or big screen display for
"life size" graphics, and quality speakers for the audio feedback.
There are setup options to suit
almost any budget.
The simulation software puts you at the controls of a modern
hydraulic excavator at work in a typical construction site,
in interaction with an articulated dump truck.
Both SAE and Backhoe-Loader joystick patterns are
available. You can even use the keyboard function keys and mouse controls
during the simulation to change the point of view.

 Software Description
There are a total of twelve "Simulation Modules" of increasing difficulty,
starting with Controls Familiarization, followed by exercises
to coordinate the control of the boom, stick, swing, and bucket.
Intermediate modules feature trench crossing using "boom
jacking", and climbing/descending benches.
After that come the digging, trenching, and truck loading modules, at
grade and from benches, with both simulated dirt and boulders.
Along the way, you will also learn to spot trucks.
For the final module, build ramps to climb benches.
For each Simulation Module, key "Performance Indicators" measure how
quickly and how carefully the
simulated work is performed, including execution time, truck loading
accuracy, the maximum tilt angle when the excavator climbs/descends benches,
and the number of "slams" that sound when the bucket is over-opened or over-closed.
In this way, the feedback is diagnostic, instead of just a
consolidated pass/fail score.
Simulation results are automatically saved, so trainees can progress at their
own pace without trainer supervision. To simplify the
record keeping, Simlog offers a
database product called Simulation
Manager, and the same database can be used with all of our
Personal Simulators.
Software Pricing
The price of the commercial software license for Simlog's Hydraulic Excavator
Personal Simulator is just USD$5,000. Since even small accidents due
to inexperience can cost thousands of dollars in replacement parts and
downtime, this represents excellent training value, not to mention the
improved training safety.
Pricing is "per PC", and this is a one time fee.
There are no restrictions on the number of people that you can train

Simlog offers free software evaluation to qualified heavy equipment industry
