Simlog Simulator Labs
The fact is, how much value you obtain from a product has everything to do with what it does, the total cost of ownership, and especially how the product is used.
And that's why Simlog's new Personal Simulators are doing more than making professional training simulation cost-effective: you can create your own Simlog simulator lab!
Instead of having just one high-priced turnkey system, you can deploy multiple low-cost Simlog stations to change the "dynamic" of training simulation in two important ways.
- With many simulator units to go around, it becomes possible to provide simulator-based help to more people at the same time.
- Everyone can now receive more simulator-based help in the same amount of scheduled training time, i.e. over the same time period.
While some Simlog customers have created mobile training units with multiple Simlog stations, but many more now have simulator labs. Think of a "computer lab" with specialized software and operator controls at each station!
This simulator lab in California with six stations was developed by the
International Union of Operating Engineers,
Local 3 (only three stations are shown in the photograph on the left).
There are four Personal Simulators:
Hydraulic Excavator,
Mobile Crane,
Tower Crane, and
Wheel Loader.
Each station is equipped with a projector and projection screen, an
adjustable seat with armrests, PC Controls,
and a special enclosure for the desktop PC, keyboard, and mouse (as shown in
the photograph on the right).
Here is a second example, this time with eight stations at the
United Technologies Center in Bangor,
Maine (USA). Each station is equipped with a desktop PC, Simlog's Hydraulic Excavator Personal Simulator,
and OEM Controls.
This simulator lab with sixteen stations is located at the Centre de formation professionnelle Mont-Laurier in Quebec, Canada with Simlog's Harvester Personal Simulator, Forwarder Personal Simulator, and Hydraulic Excavator Personal Simulator. One of the stations has a laptop PC and projector, to make the trainer's "teaching by showing" easy; the other stations have desktop PCs and LCD monitors. All stations are equipped with the same Replica Controls and Simlog's table-top mounting brackets.
This simulator lab with three stations was prepared by
Diversified Education Services for heavy
equipment operator training at Phelps Career High School in Washington, D.C. (USA) featuring (from left to right) Simlog's
Hydraulic Excavator Personal Simulator,
Mobile Crane Personal Simulator,
and Wheel Loader Personal Simulator.
Each station is equipped with Replica/OEM Controls.
This is an example from Finland with four stations, where the Forssa Vocational Adult Education Centre is using Simlog's Mobile Crane Personal Simulator and Tower Crane Personal Simulator. Each station is equipped with a desktop PC, a projector, and a real operator chair equipped with PC Controls; everything is mounted on a metal platform with wheels. Floor-to-ceiling walls help direct all eyes forward to the projection screens.
Here is a simulator lab in Brazil with six stations at the
Centro de Formação de Operadores
Florestais (Cenfor) at the Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste (Unicentro), with
Simlog's Harvester Personal Simulator
and Forwarder Personal
Simulator. Each station is equipped with a desktop PC, an LCD display,
and Harvester OEM Controls.
Here is an example from a mine in Niger (Africa) operated by
AREVA,
with seven stations.
Five stations are equipped with a desktop PC and Simlog's
Off-Highway Truck Personal Simulator
with PC Controls.
Two additional stations (not shown in the picture) feature Simlog's
Hydraulic Excavator Personal Simulator
with OEM Controls.
Finally, shown below is the simulator lab at the College of New Caledonia in British Columbia, Canada, there are twelve stations. (Only 10 are visible in the picture.) Each station is equipped with a laptop PC, Simlog's Harvester Personal Simulator and Hydraulic Excavator Personal Simulator, Replica Controls and Simlog's table-top mounting brackets.
