Personal Simulators for the Mining Company
Modern mining equipment is increasingly complex, costly, and difficult to
operate productively. As a result, proper operator training has
become everyone's business.
The fact is, it takes training to
spot a truck and position it for loading under a full bucket.
It also takes training to back up a truck just using mirrors under
that bucket.
Otherwise, your mining operations will suffer from
lower productivity, higher fuel costs, increased tire wear,
and more equipment maintenance and repair.
But the
"flight simulators"
developed for mining equipment by other companies
are complex "turnkey" products with multiple PCs,
special displays, real operator controls, a motion platform,
and a trainer's station.
This makes them costly to purchase and maintain,
with a big upfront price tag and an ongoing annual fee.
Training the Simlog Way
At Simlog, our Personal Simulators are truly
cost-effective.
How? By turning your PC into a professional training simulator
using software that knows how to teach
and USB-ready simulator controls.
As the global standard
with customers all around the world,
our proven products will help you decide
By offering lots of setup options,
our products are truly affordable for mines of all sizes.
Some customers even have two kinds of simulator controls:
(1) inexpensive "PC" Controls at a large
number of simulators, for pre-screening lots of people at the same time
at a local school or office in town, and
(2) more realistic (and more expensive) "Replica" or "OEM" Controls,
at a smaller number of simulators for operator training at the mine
itself.
This is especially cost-effective when you need to have lots of new
operators e.g. at mine startup, or when operations are expanding.
Using our Personal Simulators will make your operator training:
-
safer. Everyone learns by making mistakes, but now they happen at the
simulator.
-
more cost-effective. By better choosing the people to train,
you can be sure that everyone has the necessary aptitude
to become proficient. (Trying to train the "wrong"
people is a waste of everyone's time and money.)
And there's no need to pay for transportation and accommodation costs.
Instead, just set up your Personal Simulators wherever your training
candidates are e.g. in the nearby town, and then use Simlog's free
"Viewer" to evaluate those pre-screening results from your mine site!
-
faster. By better
preparing your new operators for real seat-time,
they reach productivity targets sooner and do that with less
"wear and tear" on your equipment, leading to lower maintenance
and repair costs.
And because there is no "trainer's station", people advance
in step with their own progress.
That also means that your trainer is spending his time where it
counts most, helping new operators at the controls of your equipment
(instead of watching them at a simulator).
-
smarter. New operators develop good habits by
learning core skills, thanks to
our instructional design that
breaks up the learning into small "steps" which build upon each other.
At each step, Performance Indicators measure both how quickly
and how carefully you work.
Target values for those Performance Indicators
become benchmarks for everyone to use.
Monitor Progress Onsite and Offsite
Simlog's
Simulation Manager
provides additional security and efficiency by
saving simulation results in a single database, indexed by user
(according to login name and password).
Where there are multiple Simlog stations,
just one software license is needed since the same Simulation Manager
can be used with many networked PCs.
And with the free Viewer for off-site monitoring,
Human Resources can follow the
simulator-based training at your mine sites all around the world,
right from your corporate offices.
