Help with Training
Until recently, the only way to train heavy equipment operators was on real machines in real work environments under the supervision of experienced staff, with all of the danger and associated costs.
Since trainees must confront the full complexity of the machines right from day one, they learn slowly and the cost of maintaining equipment used for training is very high.
Now Simlog's Personal Simulators are helping to change all that in the following ways.
Teach by showing
Watching movies of experienced operators at the controls of real equipment only goes so far. After a while, you need to explain, starting with basic operating concepts. And here's where Simlog products can help, by making it possible to demonstrate the right and wrong ways of doing things, right in the classroom!
Learn by doing
By learning to do things right, and by gaining confidence in their skills, your new operators will come up to speed faster once they graduate to your equipment, and reach their production targets sooner. And along the way, you'll be lowering the the costs of maintaining that equipment during training.
And remember: the simulator-based training is "unsupervised" and requires no trainer interaction (indeed, there is no "trainer station"). So your training staff can be spending time where it really counts, outside the classroom with your real equipment!
Refresh or upgrade skills
Each Simlog product features an innovative instructional design consisting of Simulation Modules that are progressively harder. As a result, trainees begin with the first one, and then move on when they are ready. But operators looking to refresh or upgrade their skills can "jump" right to the more advanced modules instead.
Benchmark performance
By having your best operators establish simulator-based benchmarks, it becomes possible to evaluate the proficiency of everyone else and help them improve, all the while reducing legal liability and improving individual operator accountability. And the same benchmarks can be used to pre-qualify new hires or even contracting staff, so that when you need extra help, you'll be able to count on it.
The big picture
The fact is, there are even more advantages to simulator-based training, but Simlog's Process Model (PDF file) will give you the big picture.
